• Before maps were created there were no representations of ” The World”. The maps creates an existence for the world to be represented. Capturing the world in the map requires an enormous connection of knowledge and resources.
  • The human body has an effect on the way individual interpret maps. Not everybody will see the same map in the same way.
  • Mapmakers bring together various pieces of information from different sources and then consolidate and communicates a unified vision of the world.

Before, I had thought all cartographers had travelled all across the world in order to make any maps and after they had made it they travel with it again to make sure it is accurate or gets its intended purpose done. Reading this had made me learn that cartographers’ work as map makers is a multifaceted and a very unique endeavor that goes beyond geographic mapping, involving a synthesis of knowledge from various field and communities.
