Mercator is a well known cartographer that is known for his many works but mostly famous for the map  “the mercator’s map” This is the map that had brought about the mercator’s projection this map alone is one of the most controversial pieces of art ever made. This map again has no purpose for  its creation besides colonization. This may be considered a coincidence but mercator’s map was created in 1569 and slavery started in the early 1600s this map was made and its targeted audience were the sailors. Another coincidence was that sailors were the ones that had started slavery, without the mercator’s map of so called discovery of the world. I think Mercator had the aim to start colonization and not just colonization and slavery to. From the mercator’s map we could all see that Africa and all the other continents are are  are similar in size but we know we all know that Africa is the second largest continent but in the mercator’s map he projected Africa to be smaller in size and approximately the same size as Europe I think the aim of this was to undermine Africa’s size and intelligence this had caused Africa to be colonized since the continent and its people had been undermined and ambushed by the fraud Mercator. We all know that cartographers have the ability to omit, exaggerate and even alter some information to push a certain agenda. This could be intentional or sometimes unintentional. Mercator’s altering gives me a strong feeling that he had purposely done this. Focusing on the map he had made, he had made Africa and Europe approximately similar in size when we all know Africa is the second largest continent on planet Earth. Also I thought I should mention how I think Mercator is a thief and dishonest since he had projected that he had made the map by himself. Making or researching about the world and finding its shape, size, and land mass is not a one man job even with all the technology and other forms of maps to refer from one person cannot make the map on their own but Mercator has made people believe he had done all that work with no form of acknowledgement to anybody else.
